Grrrrrrrrr

Just got back from teaching two English classes. They didn't go very well. They were at the Shizusato branch. Last night's class sucked too. Am I losing my touch?

The teachers tell me what to prepare for, and I look at what the students have been learning and base my materials on that. But they are not showing the same level in speaking as they may have in reading.

It was awkward tonight. Shit, it makes me mad. More mad at myself than anything, that I am not hitting the mark. All that time I spent on the crossword and I left some things off! Shit, no wonder the poor things were confused. And who am I to think they can remember all those words in their reader enough to do a crossword puzzle? Shit, shit, double shit. I mean, could I remember Japanese words and sentences? Hell no!

And to top it all off, Shacho (the president of the company) was my chauffer tonight. He took me out to a restaurant, 10,000 matches or something. It was very Japanese. The waitresses were all in kimonos and we were served in a tatami room, so we were sitting on cushions.

We had a very yummy salad (after a bit of raw fish that went down very smoothly thank goodness.) I ate everything but the shrimp tempura. The veggie tempura was great as was the miso soup. We also had green tea ice cream.

Our dinner conversation ran the gamut. From reincarnation, to favorite foods, to Machupicchu to Japanese souls, to American baseball. Shacho brought the same friend along that met me the first day I got here.

I'm sorry, but the stepping out of your shoes thing has got to go. At least make the ledges manageable people! I mean trying to aim for your shoe from 10,000 feet is hard, especially for a short person. I thought I was going to do a nosedive into the aisle.

Ok, am I done whining yet?
