Borrowing on my rather dubious title of "Boot girl", I am naming myself "Gifu Girl". Tonight I taught English to a class of 10 junior high students and three teachers. We did the old introducing thing, but then I jazzed up the process. Both the teachers and the students seemed to like it.
Afterwards Fred (one of the teachers), said now he understood what the other teachers were saying about me. He said they were saying that they had never seen an English class like mine before, that I was funny, encouraging and interesting!
Woo-woo, kudos for Gifu Girl!
Oh, Gifu is the name of the branch where I taught tonight.
Right now I can hear the train warning going off. It is about two blocks away. I asked Fred today how anyone could live or work in those places right on the railroad tracks! Every 5 minutes that alarm sounds and a train goes by! And there are houses and businesses not 10 feet away from the tracks!
I am also calling myself "Grateful Gifu Girl". This company that I am working for is gathering a shitload of stuff to furnish my apartment. The contract said that they would provide a refrigerator, TV and a microwave, but they are chipping in a VCR, vacuum cleaner, clothes washer, dish towels, wash towels, futon, dishes, glasses, silverware, trash cans, cleaning supplies, you name it! I told Fred I thought they were going above and beyond.
Hey, I think I am over jet-lag . . . finally!!
