Yesterday, John, Papa (owner of Bagus), Taka-san (boss of Brown Binton) and I, went to El Paso Restaurant in Gifu. We were all hankering for some Mexican food. We sat at the bar listening to Country & Western music. John asked Papa if he liked it and Papa said it was "so-so". Papa is more a fan of island music, Balinese music to be exact. He goes to Bali whenever he has the chance. His favorite movie star is Harrison Ford and he really enjoyed the latest Star Wars movie. Papa also told us that they will start serving tacos at the Brown Binton. Now THAT was excellent news! Of course, they will be out of this world expensive, no 79 cent tacos ala Taco Bell, if you know what I mean.
So we passed a couple of rainy hours munching on a "combi plate" with one taco (hard or soft, beef or chicken), one burrito (beef or chicken), and half of a quesadilla (beef, chicken or jalapeno), with small scoops of salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the side and listening to a bunch of country stars doing a tribute to ZZ Top. Yuuuummy!
Hey, I am in the market for a digital camera. I want to be able to illustrate my entries when I can. Wouldn't a picture of the El Paso Combi plate be great right here ---------->?
I will keep you updated!
I'm coming up on some busy times. It will be an intense 2 weeks and then a long vacation, half of which I will spend in a training (Teaching English to Children) course in Hiroshima. I have a lot of old friends down in the south of Japan. It will be fun getting out and seeing people!
