Tales of Kim's Life in Japan

It is still raining. 45 minutes until my alarm goes off. My windows are slightly ajar, allowing wind and sound to enter, but not rain.
I am lying on the tatami listening to the roll of automobile wheels on pavement slicked with perspiration from the clouds. The tatami feels cool under the back of my hands behind my head as I gaze up at the squat oval rice paper lamp hanging from the ribbed ceiling.
It is times like these that I want to remember. Times like these, that if not recorded, are so easy to slip away.
In my room, it is dark, it is cool. I enrobe myself with the darkness and the coolness, feeling the imprint of the tatami on my skin. I am hungry, I am lazy, I am wanting to sleep, as I listen to the train station bells, the caw of crows, and the rolling moisture from the heavens.
