Supermarket Love
...written on 11.13.01, @ 11:37 a.m.

Tue November 13, 2001

I wanted to share these poems that my 10th grade high school students wrote last night. Our lesson was on things you could find in the supermarket. I had them use the vocabulary that they generated in pairs to make poems about their girlfriends. The poems are typed as submitted:

My girlfriend is suger. She is very sweet. My girlfriend is milk. She has the white skin.

My girlfriend is egg. She is very white and beautiful. However, when she is hot, she become unadaptable. At the time, her skin is more smooth and pritty. And her yellow heart is sweet.

My girlfriend is Onikoroshi.* Because she is wild. My girlfriend is radish. Because her leg looks like radish.** My girlfriend is sweet as a chocolate. I want to be the jam on her bread!!

Editorial notes:

*Onikoroshi is a strong Japanese alcohol.

**The radish referred to above is the white daikon radish, which is large and long.
